Tthe city crime branch and the Customs department have jointly busted a racket in which 590 gm of ketamine hydrochloride drug worth Rs 2.98 crore was being shipped from Ahmedabad through Air Cargo foreign post office to the US. The address of the receiver was Mineralism IIC, PO Box no. 1582, Mederland and Colorado, and was sent by one Sanjay Patel of Navsari.
Crime branch officials said Sonu Goyal of Pushkar in Rajasthan had given the parcel to Patel near Ajmer and asked him to send it to US via Mumbai. “We have detained Goyal and are hunting for more suspects,” said JCP crime branch Prem Vir Singh.
JCP Singh said, “Goyal had asked Patel to post the parcel to US from Mumbai. However, the Customs got suspicious and informed us.”
DCP Chaitanya Mandlik said “We sent the parcel for forensic examination which confirmed that the powder was ketamine hydrochloride.”
