the tool box of what is available and what can be used for the goal of desegregating. alicia: she talked about federal mandating. do you think folks will notice that little distinction there? i think that this is definitely an issue that brings a lot of emotions with it. you do have to be careful. but the reason that she made such a stunning showing at the debate and raised $2 million within 24 hours of that debate is she connected with people and did it again on a personal level. she talked about herself and she used very strong words. americans want a president that is a leader, a president who is decisive and kind of backtracking on that and trying to weasel out of a question i don t think it will give you a good showing if you are running in the general election against donald trump who does backtrack now and then but when he speaks he speaks decisively. i think she will get into a
outweighs any potential gain that would be gained from the citizen question because we have the american community survey which was instituted 20 years ago and they asked those types of questions. the questions that used to be on the long form census questionnaire are tracked in the acs. why does it need to be asked of everyone? jon: ted, you have been quiet so far and i m sure you have some responses. listen to kevin s arguments. they are they want to push this because it s a political issue for them. they know they would lose votes if the census asked this question. it is purely political on behalf of the democrats but also about resources. that s another thing that kevin just said is that states that have huge numbers of illegal immigrants will lose federal tax dollars if we don t count them in the census. and that s really what it comes down to. it comes down to politics and comes down to yours and my tax dollars that we re giving to states that are sanctuary
jon: rich edson is live at the white house with more. good morning. those officials are trying to figure out a way to get that citizenship question on the 2020 census even as the government is printing those forms without it. officials say the president is considering an executive order to force the citizenship question on to census surveys according to axios. the federal government draws congressional districts from census data and determine where federal funding goes. administration opponents charge the citizenship question is an attempt to undercount those living in democratic areas lessening their political power. it appeared the supreme court had settled the issue for the 2020 census when it ruled last week striking the question from the form until the administration could come up with a better reason as to why it needed to ask whether a person was an american citizen. the commerce department said it was moving forward without the citizenship question and the president quoted
issue here. working across the aisle, what about working across the party? that s a great question. two spokes people were going at it on twitter yesterday. it s funny. biden has declared i won t go after my fellow democrats or attack the other candidates. he is getting people to do it for him. which really is the same thing. he is trying to claim he is seeking a higher ground there but sending out your attack dogs after someone is really the same thing. a little bit of a cowardly way to go about it. he knows he has trouble on this issue. people are going after him for his comments and friendships with segregationists and he hasn t answered those concerns at all. he hasn t back tracked at all. he is going after someone who has very good questions what he said about working with people that did things that people like kamala harris and cory booker are rightfully upset about and this also indicates biden has a big problem. one is he is an old white guy. i don t think that s what
states that allow illegal immigrants to come into their states, encourage them to come into their states even though they re here illegally. that s what the democrats are all about with this question. the american people, i believe, want to have this question put forward. they support the president in moving forward with this. and he has the complete constitutional authority, the supreme court ruled that the administration has the ability to do this. they just question their thinking on rationale on why they re doing it. that s not part of the court s decision making process. that s a bad decision on the supreme court. jon: apparently the decision is yet to be made. administration continues to push for it. ted harvey and kevin chavis, thank you both. good morning and happy fourth. alicia: violent antifa clashes have authorities in portland considering a ban on masks to public protests. is that possible? jon: nike pulls its flag shoes. find out how a veteran-owned company is res
