jon: right now in washington, d.c. vice president mike pence is welcoming the 50 newest americans speaking at their naturalization ceremony at the national archives. the vice president also expected to attend president trump s salute to america celebration later today. alicia: a proud july 4th tradition is about to kick off just hours from now. the nathan s hot dog eating contest in brooklyn, new york. contestants taking part at a weigh-in yesterday to get certified for today s event. among those taking part joey chestnut who won the title last
running for president who are furious about the way this celebration is going on. there is a group. a growing group of democrats that have a knee jerk reaction to absolutely everything that president trump does, everything that he says, every idea he has, they cannot accept and be on his side on anything. it s against trump on everything and even at the cost of what s best for americans. i m afraid that will come back to haunt them in november of 2020 because americans want people to represent them who care about what is best for our country and this automatic just hatred of everything that trump does is not what s best for our country. he has done we re experiencing the greatest economic growth that we ever have before. unemployment at its lowest. it is a great time to be an american and a great time to thank those people who have kept us safe and look, military equipment and tanks, it may not be the most it may be a
it s one of the most important days in our history and it s so refreshing to have a president who wants to not only honor the men and women who have given their lives and families who have given family members to give us the freedoms we have today but also thank the families and the service members that are serving today. and robin is one of the few democrats that is not outraged by this. the majority of americans are proud of our country and we are so relieved to have a president that wants to celebrate that and having a couple of tanks on the grounds it s not to express our might and strength, it is just to thank the service members and to reflect on our history a little bit. that s all it is. it s a shame the democrats, especially the presidential candidates, would try to politicize a day like today. jon: the national press secretary for the trump campaign kaley mcenany had remarks on this. their hate for president
administration. there are things up tore fair criticism. but the thing that bothers me is democrats are being told we hate america and that counts be further from the truth. jon: i was on the celebration on the mall last year. there is a big celebration every year. the difference now is there are a couple tanks parked there and a flyover. i don t particularly have an issue with it. there are things up for fair criticism. we ve always had a fireworks celebration. another thing i want to point out rnc, the trump administration promised us it wouldn t be politicized. the rnc is giving out v.i.p. tickets based on how much money you donated to the rnc. i say it is being politicized. jon: there are lots of spaces available on the mall for everyday americans. holly, is this a bad thing? of course not.
the tool box of what is available and what can be used for the goal of desegregating. alicia: she talked about federal mandating. do you think folks will notice that little distinction there? i think that this is definitely an issue that brings a lot of emotions with it. you do have to be careful. but the reason that she made such a stunning showing at the debate and raised $2 million within 24 hours of that debate is she connected with people and did it again on a personal level. she talked about herself and she used very strong words. americans want a president that is a leader, a president who is decisive and kind of backtracking on that and trying to weasel out of a question i don t think it will give you a good showing if you are running in the general election against donald trump who does backtrack now and then but when he speaks he speaks decisively. i think she will get into a
