5,963 new infections, 27 deaths reported in 24 hours The State reported 27 deaths, the highest daily toll in six months, and 5,963 new infections in the 24 hours ending Monday morning. The toll reached 7,437 with 126 deaths reported in the past one week indicating a rise in the death rate which stands at 0.77%. The total number of COVID-19 cases so far has increased to 9,68,000. The number of recoveries also increased to 9,12,510 as 2,569 patients had overcome the infection in the past day. The recovery rate came down to 94.2%. The daily positivity rate came down to 15.79% as the number of samples tested increased to 37,765. The overall positivity rate of 1.571 crore samples remains at 6.16%.

As many as 27 people succumbed to COVID-19 in Andhra Pradesh on Monday, the highest toll in a day after October 20, even as the state registered 5,963 fresh cases. After 1.57 crore tests, the gross COVID-19 positives in the state rose to 9.68 lakh,a health department bulletin said. In the 24 hours ending 9 am on Monday, 2,569 coronavirus-infected persons recovered, pushing the total recoveries to 9,12,510. The overall toll climbed to 7,437, it said. The state now has 48,053 active cases, the highest after October 8. As the percentage of active cases increased to five, the overall recovery rate dipped further to 94.3 per cent. Once again, Chittoor district reported 1,182 fresh cases in a day, followed by Guntur 938, Srikakulam 893, East Godavari 626, Visakhapatnam 565, SPS Nellore 491, Kurnool 434 and Prakasam 280.

Image Source: IANS News New Delhi, April 1 : The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at 31 locations in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, including the premises of Advocate V Raghunath, K Padma and KS Chalam and several civil and tribal right activists in connection with its probe into the Munchingput maoist case and recovered cash to the tune of Rs 10 lakh and several other incriminating documents. An NIA official related top probe told IANS, The agency sleuths carried out searches at the premises of Raghunath, Padma, Chalam, revolutionary singer Dappu Ramesh, Pragatishil Women Organisation President Rajeshwari, premises of arrested accused Annapurna and Srinivasan.
