On this week’s Sunday Escape, Paul and Carolyn play music from brand new albums from Tennis and Yo La Tengo, plus new tracks from Lip Filler, STONE, abracadabra, and Dream Wife. That’s all accompanied by plenty of older tracks too including a song from at least one of this year’s Grammy winners. There’s a look back at a debut release from a legendary band which came out way back in 1984, along with a track from an enigmatic Nigerian electronic music pioneer. Plus a new Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz, plenty of chat, and of course biscuits.

The Sunday Escape returns, and it’s been another great week for new music. Join Paul and Carolyn as they play a deluge of new singles featuring artists including Babitha, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Cosmic Crooner, Jake Shears, and Free Range, plus music from newly-released albums from Young Fathers, Hamish Hawk, The Go! Team, and The Waeve. One of those will almost certainly be the Pop Fugitives’ album of the week, plus there’ll be some older music too, including the debut single from a legendary 1980s new romantic band and a track from an Irish band who produced beautiful music but never made it big. That’s all joined by the usual features, including chat about being in a covers band, the curious desire to be on a tram, and of course a new Super Clever Music Mystery Quiz, this time devised by a listener. Also: biscuits! Hopefully decent ones, this week. Tune in on Sunday from 9am to 1pm.

This week’s Sunday Escape comes live from the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens, which means that Paul and Carolyn will be at Hong Kong Stadium playing all the finest in new music, including singles from Yo La Tengo, Hemlock Springs, Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds and Miss Grit as well as tracks from albums from Phoenix and First Aid Kit. Needless to say there’ll also be plenty of tunes to get you in the HK Sevens mood plus whatever else lurks in the Pop Fugitives’ records bag. There’ll be rugby coverage and commentary amongst the music naturally, and hopefully by now Paul has mastered the rules of rugby so he may be more in-depth than in previous years. Plus there’ll be all the atmosphere of the stadium accompanying the usual features such as another Super Clever Music Mastery Quiz, another debut single from a band who this week didn’t do much else and of course biscuits. Tune in on Sunday from 9am to 1pm.
