Calls to stop bad parking on Old Pool Bank

A COUNCILLOR is calling for action to stop motorists parking on Old Pool Bank after a police clampdown on the Chevin. Adel and Wharfedale councillor Barry Anderson says more cars are being left on the top part of Old Pool Bank following a high profile police initiative to stop cars being parked dangerously on roads around the Chevin. He said: This issue arose in two different locations within Upper Old Pool Bank. The first was at the end of Quarry Farm Road closest to the Chevin and the second was near the top of upper Old Pool Bank just before it branches out on to Harrogate Road.

Extra speed check signs for Arthington

COUNCILLORS are welcoming extra speed check signs in Arthington village. Following the introduction of Police Speed Check signs in Pool in Wharfedale the local Neighbourhood Policing Team Sergeant has agreed to carry out increased checks on speeds on Arthington Lane through Arthington village. Highways have advised that they will produce signs to let motorists know that checks on this road will be undertaken frequently while they are in the Pool area. Cllr Barry Anderson, Conservative, Adel and Wharfedale Ward, said:“I am delighted that the police are taking the speeding issue in Arthington village so seriously that they are prepared to increase their checks whilst they are in the area carrying out regular enforcement in Pool village. It is really pleasing that this is being backed up by immediate action from Highways to install the signage that goes with this increased activity.

Hundreds comment on East of Otley scheme

HUNDREDS of people have commented on the East of Otley consultation which finishes this week. The consortium behind the scheme, which includes 550 homes, say the response to the consultation has been excellent, with thousands of views of the website. The consultation is being undertaken by the Otley East Consortium - a group of organisations working together to deliver the mixed use allocation. Members responsible for bringing forward the hybrid development are Leeds City Council, Persimmon Homes and Lovell Homes. Further phases of the development scheme may be brought forward by other landowners and companies included within the consortium. A spokesman said: The current public engagement process is taking place to highlight the scheme and advertise the process, prior to the submission of a formal planning application to the local authority. It provides an opportunity for residents, stakeholders and interest groups to tell the East of Otley Consortium what is important to
