reporter: what tuberville wants is for the senate in particular to vote on this policy. this would be codifying the policy into law. if it doesn t pass, then the policy goes away, but if it passes, then the policy stays. this is something that senate leadership has not been open to at this point. and so this standoff continues, and, chris, it s worth pointing out, politically this could be a double edged sword. he comes from alabama, certainly a pro life state, but there are a number of families in alabama who are connected to the military in some form or fashion, more than 26,000 families now, not all of them are caught up in this military promotions hold. but there is a trickle down affect impacted by this. there is pressure from that regard. there s a political benefit for him to stand up to the biden white house and particularly on an issue like abortion, so that s why at this point, he seems prepared to be willing to stand his ground and allow this debate to continue. chris. r
the elite loophole. he said this wasn t spleet the alito loophole, they re going to put in classroom training requirements, they re going to nickel and dime gun owners and see if they can t get around the supreme court ruling and that s what washington, d.c. has done in the wake of heller. you have to have classroom time, have a five hubd fee to get a gun permit and the cases will have to be adjudicated going forward. this was a big case for incorporation doctrine as they apply the second amendment to state and local law but it s not the last word with regard to megyn: because the ruling said you ve got a right to individually bear arms. that s basically what it said but it can be restricted and that s what you say about the classes and so on. let me ask you, isn t that good to require classes? maybe not $500, because that affects the poor, but to make somebody go through classes before they can buy a firearm? well, i mean, lots of things are good, but the question is, whether
60 percent, did i tell you i m running as independent for the senate? this is outrageous! you can t do that, you can t change ideology based on public opinion polls. are you kidding me? mig arlen specter, we know what happened to him, he was a democrat, he switched to republican, he lost, but he gave back $850,000, to 900 people who requested refunds. unlike crist, who according to the papers, the cp tiles, he was asked hey what about the guys that gave you money when you were a republican and the response was i m going to keep it, according to the paper, crist cheerfully responded with a wink. how many other bad quotes do you have that s going to impact my case negatively? are we done now? look, i don t disagree. i m saying as a matter of law, and you know this to be the case, this will be totion dollars. there is no way this case is going to proceed as a class action based on state breach of contract claims when you re not allowed, this is a federal election law, to bring federal c
about the dissenting judges, wasn t that fascinating, they rediscovered federalism. they found a right to privacy in the constitution in the ninth amendment but they can t find the plain words of the second empty. i got a kick out of that. megyn: do you think based on what i ve covered of the supreme court, you can almost always tell how they re going to rule, it s not a surprise it was 5-4. how big a role we re watching this with kagan and trying to figure out is she a liberal. i think it s accepted according to the white house, even, she has this philosophy. let s say we don t know. is it their personal idea ology that s behind this decision on both sides? one side believes guns aren t so bad, and that people have the right to have them and one side believes as many liberals do guns are bad, and they need to be stopped. i think you re spot on with that. they ll find what they need to find in the law to further an agenda far too often. in this case, as i say, the minority, the d
thinking of speaker nancy pelosi. she says there will be a serious draw down by july of next year or else. retired general anthony ohada is my guest. he is the author of rogue threat. first the president came out and said july 11 is when we begin the draw down. then he came out and modified that a little saying that is not set in stone, that is when we begin the process of transition. but nancy pelosi has another idea. she came out and said specifically to the huffington post that there must be a serious draw down next summer, and she is not sure how many democrats are going to vote for war spending without inch vining inshrining that policy into law. how do we resolve the war then the general and the house speaker. megyn it s great to be back with you. i think part of it is a fundamental misunderstanding of what everybody is talking about.
