Remember that year . I know you know but for those who dont that was the introduction of the iphone. Literally it changed the way we use devices with those multimedia functions and it enabled and opened up several doors of opportunity for us to have this conversation today. But on a regulatory front which is more in line with your question in that 1980s the fcc launched its first cell phone spectrum ban and through a series of those decisions, based on that we are now seen and that marked the global, mobile revolution. Of course, revolution often happen in different phases at different stages. So now in terms of mobile revolution or evolution we are talking about the sixth phase in some ways but not in all communities and thats another topic for another time but the fifth wave or evolution when it comes to mobile phones. What we saw around the third wave or so is these devices becoming smaller, more nimble, less expensive and more ubiquitous so you have the pop up of a lot of these ver

The glass fire is raging dangerously close this morning and now shifting winds raising the threat of new fires and bringing suffocating smoke back to the bay area. Fire crews are racing against the clock by air and ground trying to knock out the flames before the wind picks up. Yesterday afternoon air tankers made drop after drop as the fire raced up the hillside off highway 29. This is aerial video by cal fire looking on the palasades Mountain Range below. It shows the fire coming close to homes in the mountains. A lot of people live around here. Its scary. How many times . A new fire, you are evacuating. Its scary. This is not the only concern. Anchor Spencer Christian to find out how much longer these dangerous air conditions are going to last, spencer. Youre right, the conditions are dangerous. Let me give you a look at air quality a rnld the bay area. You can see these red dots indicating unhealthy air. A few yellows near the north coast there, to the central part of the bay area, San Francisco, free month, concord, livermore, san jose to the south bay all have poor air quality, including locations in the santa cruz mountains. Now, we have surface wind right now thats blowing on shore. That will slowly push some of the smoke and the pollutants eastward. Its not going to happen overnight. As we look at the smoke forecast, you can see over the next two days tomorrow and into wednesday, well see the reds and purples pushing to the east and some cleaner air coming in. There will be some improvement. The problem is, working offshore, theres another plume of smokefilled air coming our way. Two more xiconsecutive spare th air day
Out. You can see the confrontation there between officers and a protester. There have been a number of arrests. We have more now on the decision and where the case goes from here. Ahead of the announcement, Louisville Police braced for possible demonstrations. The department canceled officers vacation and dayoff requests in anticipation, while crews boarded up windows of the citys federal courthouse. I assure you, we have
Our nation recently observed the 19th anniversary of the terrorist attacks of september 11, 2001. Nearly two decades later we continue to mourn the nearly 3,000 lives lost that terrible day and keep their loved ones in our prayers. This committee and the department of Homeland Security were established in the wake of 9 11 to help prevent future attacks on our soil. Regardless of who was chairman weve held regular hearings examining worldwide threats with leaders from the department of Homeland Security, fbi, and National Counter Terrorism Center. And regardless of who has occupied the white house, whether democrat or republican, weve received cooperation in that effort. Today was supposed to be no different. Unfortunately as we see from the empty chair in front of us mr. Wolf is not here to represent the department of Homeland Security. Let me be clear about how we got here. The committee began engaging with the department over three months ago to secure participation alongside his col
