Elena mondragon was killed by Fremont Police on march 14th in hayward when investigators say undercover officers tried to stop a stolen car wanted in connection with multiple armed robberies. Investigators say when they tried to stop the car the driver drove into the Detectives Police vehicles, injuring the two detectives. Chief sean whent resigned. We hearing different stories much the mayor said it was for personal reasons but sources say he resigned under pressure. In that statement about his resignation the chief sean whent said when i took the job three years ago at interim chief i vowed to move the department forward and make oakland safer by forming a stronger relationship with members of the diverse community. I am proud to have done that. Chief sean whents resignation means there is turn over at top of the lived in oakland, San Francisco and san jose. All in the past six months. Mayor schaaf named interim chief ben fairow. Police chief suhr resigned last month and garcia became the chief of police in march after taking over as acting chief in january when there was a retired.
