The Texas Department of Public Safety says an Evadale resident died in a weekend accident in nearby Hardin County. It happened at about 9:00 Saturday morning at the intersection of Farm to Market Roads 92 & 1122, about 4 miles north of Silsbee.
According to Sergeant Stephanie Davis, 29-year-old Shelby Smith was driving a 2019 Kia Forte at an unsafe speed eastbound on FM 1122. Davis said as the car approached the intersection, Smith lost control.
The car struck a culvert, went airborne, and then crashed into two parked vehicles and a building, according to Davis.
Smith was pronounced dead at the scene by Hardin County Justice of the Peace Melissa Minton.
