Reporter students said the school went on lockdown for at least a half hour until police arrived. I guess it was a little bit scary, because the fact that we have that going on in our school . It is scary, but it was happening all the way across campus from where i was. So it was not me. I was not exactly concerned for myself. Reporter classes were canceled for the rest of the day and students were let out one building at a time. Parents were notified and rushed to the school to pick up their students. Some could be seen embracing after what was for all a traumatic day. I think it is sad and heartbreaking. I think we should be safer. If you remember, we have seen a number of cases of violence at bay area schools, including in san jose. Back in march, police took a seventh grader into custody for a stabbing. Took a step forward and we have been hearing from family members of victims frustrated at her progressive approach and saying that it is denying them justice. One of those is the family of a livermore grandmother who was killed after she was hit by a car fleeing police. The suspected driver, a man with a criminal record who was wearing a ankle monitor, now the family is worried that a plea deal could put him on the streets and other families in danger. I got the call that everybody else in my family did, that she had been in an accident. It felt like our worlds had changed in an instant. She was the glue to our family. Indictments describe a group of officers who acted as though they were above the law. One of the Antioch Police officers is morteza amiri. His Attorney Says theyre still waiting to review the evidence. She said her client would have surrendered peacefully if given the opportunity. These dramatics and thats what they were that took place at his house in the very Early Morning hours today were entirely unnecessary. It was unconscionable.
