Disabled Yeppoon man s friends used him for drugs

Premium Content Subscriber only Friends of a disabled Yeppoon man “used him” to get drugs, a court has heard. Dylan Brian Hartley, 23, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to 12 drug-related charges including possession, production and supply. The court heard that police executed a search warrant at Hartley’s Yeppoon residence on February 23. Hartley told police that he had cannabis and bongs in his room and that he smoked the drug to ease his serious Tourette syndrome. Hartley also had two cannabis plants, 1m and 50cm tall, growing in the backyard and police found text messages on his mobile phone which related to supply.

Cap Coast woman hit with extra 2-year driving ban

The 36-year-old pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to the offence. The court heard that police caught Kelk driving on Hill Street at Emu Park on May 1. It was only in late March that a court had disqualified her from driving for eight months. Magistrate Philippa Beckinsale fined Kelk $750 and disqualified her from driving for a further two years which goes on top of the original penalty. MORE YEPPOON COURT STORIES:

Illegal campers busted at Shoalwater Bay

Premium Content Subscriber only One of many people caught illegally camping at the Shoalwater Bay military training area during Covid restrictions, has faced court. Nathan William Michael Groves, 19, pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to trespassing on Commonwealth land. The court heard that in May last year, police were conducting patrols of Byfield National Park when they came across numerous people illegally camping. There were signs in the area to warn people that it was Commonwealth land and that trespassers would be prosecuted. Police prosecutor Sergeant Shaun Janes said police saw 14 vehicles parked at the northern end of Five Rocks beach and numerous people were camping illegally inside the military training area.

Named: Latest Yeppoon drink and drug-drivers caught

Premium Content Subscriber only Here are the people who pleaded guilty in Yeppoon Magistrates Court last Thursday to drink or drug-driving. P-plater Ethan Gray James, 18, recorded a blood-alcohol reading of 0.113 after he was caught drink-driving on Yeppoon’s Park Street on April 25. James told police he had been drinking rum and cola at a friend’s house prior to driving to McDonald’s. James’ lawyer Cam Schroder said James had been involved in an argument with a female at his friend’s house and rather than let things escalate he had decided to leave. “She got under his skin . he made a very stupid decision to drive,” Mr Schroder said.

Warrant issued for dumped drums accused after court no-show

Premium Content Subscriber only A warrant has been issued for one of the men charged in relation to the alleged illegal dumping of 13 drums at two sites near Yeppoon, after he did not appear in court on Thursday. Jason Lee Atkins was listed to appear in Yeppoon Magistrates Court but he failed to do so. Mr Atkins, 38, is facing numerous charges including wilfully causing material environmental harm following a Department of Environment and Science investigation. In 2019, the Department launched an investigation after drums were found in waterways at the Capricorn Coast. In court on Thursday, a lawyer for the Department appeared via phone link and requested that a warrant be issued.
