you name it. and basically they re being told effectively this is the way to do it. all right. i made notes. he says africa, asia, the middle east, different countries, caribbean. what do all those places have in common? they re all states with mostly people of color. you know, it s like he s spitting in our face trying to convince us it s raining. what s the temperament from the people in florida when it comes to this type of racist rhetoric? the governor clearly doesn t know which state he s the governor of. this is the state where we have people from the caribbean, people from all across latin america. it has the largest haitian/american community in the united states, yet, he is saying don t come. i think people in florida, at least in south florida where i am, don t appreciate the governor s rhetoric. they don t appreciate this unwelcome sign, because people
i don t get it. and even with sinema, she has not indicated exactly what it is in this bill that s so objectionable to her that she would like to have taken out. as for manchin, maybe he doesn t understand people who work every day who are paying 50% of their income on housing. people who work every day and can t afford a down payment even though they could afford the mortgage, but that down payment is too much. people who don t have the security deposit to get a rental unit because it would double the cost of getting into the unit. these people are well off, and they live very well. and they maybe don t have empathy or any real concerns for those who are less fortunate. and so whether we re talking about poor people or middle class people who work every day, but can t afford the housing that is safe and secure for their families, i don t know,
afford to have rent, then we ve got to spend the money in order to deal with the housing crisis in america. and this includes homelessness. i don t see how we can absolutely have a reconciliation act, nor can we have infrastructure act without considering that housing is infrastructure. and it is central to our economy. so i m fighting very hard to hold onto and to save the work that we have done in my committee in order to support real housing in this country. and you know, i have to say a lot of civil rights groups are in your corner. they ve talked about housing as a way for equality. particularly for communities of color. this is why it baffles me that people who have never been a victim of institutional racism or systemic white supremacy don t seem to understand this concept. take a listen to your senator, or your colleague in the senate joe manchin to hear his views on
not just the people of color unable to make it to the ballot box or when they do, their vote is diluted in some way. the harm sometimes is expressive. it s a statement from the state government that we don t care about your voices. and we want to make sure you know that. i see that as part of the point sometimes. and i think that s what s going on in texas. they know this map wouldn t survive a voting rights act challenge, but it s expressing the will of the state that some people belong in the political community and some don t. as you notice, this is not the first time this has happened. this is a long-standing problem in the united states politics. it s the tamarit for me. the people who built this country to say we don t care about your participation in this process. it s exhausting and enraging at the same time. thank you so much michael and doug for joining us for a complicated conversation on gerrymandering. you ll have to come back. up next, some of america s biggest compan
but i think we have to be careful we don t know if mental health concerns are behind these things here. i think often is people who had difficulty being told no before are really acting out right now. so pacifics and the vaccines have brought out the worst in people and so people are really just kind of being more irritable and on edge with each opts and having violent outbursts that can be scary especially for children. people who investor then actual persecution and think max are persecution don t know how to maneuver this in coat. we have plenty of persecution. a more positive impact on world mental health day, i think we re in a space where we are formalizing wellness. you know, it s a moment to stand still and say how can i maneuver in this world without losing it. if i may get in a free therapy session, how can i maneuver in
