Tonight, weve uncovered new insight into the deadly standoff inside the vaughan correctional center. The head of the Correctional Officers union said floyd was stabbed and beaten to death. The other people held hostage were severely beaten and suffered broken bones. Tonight a former inmate who spent time in the prison tells nbc 10 he got calls from inmates during that standoff. He says the relationship between inmates and officers has gotten very bad and he says he understands their demands. Education, just rights they deserve. This is supposed to be department of corrections. Youre supposed to correct. Youre supposed to rehabilitate. They havent been doing that.
