A WAR of words has erupted between Penketh Parish Council members surrounding bullying accusations and the findings of an audit. This follows scenes at a meeting last Wednesday, which have since been shared on social media, in which Cllr Geoff Fellows told vice chair Cllr Linda Dirir to ‘shut up’. In a clip, Cllr Dirir stated that an audit issue needed to be addressed before the end of March. In response, Cllr Fellows said: “Linda, I’ve listened to your voice long enough now. It’s 9.41, this meeting finished at 9.30, we’ve not extended the standing orders, so we’re not even in a meeting now, so do you just want to just shut up and then we can move on.”
Geoff Fellows and partner Michael Potts with the new defibrillator In a normal world, celebrating a landmark birthday often involves parties, holidays or drinks with friends but one Penketh resident marked the big 4 0 with the purchase of life saving medical equipment. Geoff Fellows climbed Mount Snowdon for his special birthday, raising funds for a defibrillator machine in Penketh, and he donated all his birthday money to the cause. Now, thanks to help from AED Donate and Tesco Bags of Help, a new defibrillator has been installed outside The Manna House on Warrington Road, meaning someone suffering from a cardiac arrest would be able to receive treatment in an emergency.
