A WAR of words has erupted between Penketh Parish Council members surrounding bullying accusations and the findings of an audit. This follows scenes at a meeting last Wednesday, which have since been shared on social media, in which Cllr Geoff Fellows told vice chair Cllr Linda Dirir to ‘shut up’. In a clip, Cllr Dirir stated that an audit issue needed to be addressed before the end of March. In response, Cllr Fellows said: “Linda, I’ve listened to your voice long enough now. It’s 9.41, this meeting finished at 9.30, we’ve not extended the standing orders, so we’re not even in a meeting now, so do you just want to just shut up and then we can move on.”

WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS VERY STRONG LANGUAGE (Video credit: Cllr Geoff Fellows/Facebook) A MEMBER was kicked out of a parish council meeting after swearing again. Cllr David Simm was forced to stand down as the chairman of Penketh Parish Council in October after launching into a foul-mouthed tirade during a Zoom meeting. And he was again heard to shout ‘f off’ as the section of the parish council’s meeting on Wednesday, December 9, which was open to the public drew to a close. Despite protestations that the outburst had been as a result of being scratched by his cat, he was removed from the online meeting by the clerk.
