9.9% to 9.1%. 80,000 jobs created. we have still have 14 million people unemployed. what s the good news here for your average person out in america? what s interesting, too, is that we had to make some revisions in the last two months and there were actually over 100,000 jobs that were added. if you look at the course of this year, alone, we ve added about 1 million private sector jobs and in 20 month months we ve actually added 2.8 million private sector jobs. it s slow, nevertheless, we still need to apply more pressure. i think that, you know, the areas we really suffer in is in construction and also in the public sector. we had two attempts in the senate to try to get some of those packages in the americans jobs act passed and the senate said no. these are areas we know are struggling, we know a lot of people lost their jobs in construction and here was a way to help provide a remedy to that. i think we re not going to stop, and you know that, we re going to keep pushing forward

that would make it worse than last year. 2011 fell short of predictions by the white house. private economists as well. bret: wendell goler travelintraveling with the prest in san francisco. thank you. back here in washington, payroll extension has been reached. the bigger problem has to do with the jobless benefits. chief congressional correspondent mike emanuel is on capitol hill tonight. it s a done deal. after intense debate, congressional negotiators formally signed off on the deal extending the payroll tax holiday for the rest of the year. the package prevents a 27.4% cut to physicians who treat medicare patients. it extends unemployment insurance with the new job search requirements and cuts maximum benefit to average of 73 weeks from the current 93 weeks. this is an economic relief package because the president policies not only failed they have made the economy worse.
that s key in this whole thing. and one provision is the keystone pipeline. remember, this was going to be the pipeline from canada down to texas that at one point, president obama was in favor of. why? because it would create up to 20,000 jobs. and we are in an economy right now where we need to try to create jobs. but those who opposed it were the environmentalists. remember about a month ago, the president came out and said we re not going to make a decision until after the election and many people thought that was politics. now the republicans have attached that to this payroll extension. and the president has said, i will veto it so if he s working both sides of the fence on this, that s what the majority whip kevin mccarthy is saying. such hypocrisy. here s a president that campaigns around the country saying we can t wait. he says i can t make a decision. this is a pipeline that comes from canada and goes all the way to louisiana. supplies energy and make our energy price lowe
