Garland’s Bradfield Recreation Center has got a new course that could help you get in shape and learn self-defense all at once.
The Bradfield Recreation Center will offer jiu-jitsu courses on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays between 7:30 p.m. and 8:45 p.m.
The course is open to anyone aged four years or older, the Garland Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts department said on Facebook.

Garland’s Nicholson Memorial Library System has won a statewide award for consistent excellence and outstanding contributions to public library services within the city.
For the 16th consecutive year, Nicholson Memorial Library System was granted the Texas Achievement of Library Excellence Award from the Texas Municipal Library Directors Association, the city announced on Tuesday.
Garland will continue giving COVID-19 vaccines at drive-through event this week
The vaccination event will be held Thursday at Homer B. Johnson Stadium.

Held at the Homer B. Johnson Stadium, the vaccination event is appointment-only.
The city said that earlier this week it received another shipment of 1,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The city received its first shipment of vaccines in late December.
Garland’s plans to improve city streets among subjects of mayor’s annual address

Garland Mayor Scott LeMay will deliver the annual “state of the city” address on Feb. 9, according to the city’s website.
During his annual address, the mayor plans to discuss the city’s plans to “improve the streets,” as well as how the city intends to “deliver on your $423.7 million bond commitment,” among other new items, the city said.
Garland will hold another mass COVID-19 vaccination event on Thursday, Jan. 28, for people who are currently at the top of the wait list. The event was.
