On Jan. 9 th of this year, Captain Aggarwal was the member of an all-women cockpit crew that flew India’s national carrier Air India’s first flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru. Her other crew members were:  Capt. Papagari Thanmai, Capt. Akansha Sonaware and Capt. Shivani Manhas. In an exclusive trailblazer video interview series on Chai With Manju, Capt. Aggarwal says there was once a 8-year-old Zoya who would gaze stars and watch planes flying and would wonder if she herself could fly those planes. Although she calls herself a “normal” girl, but she is already changing lives of millions of 8-year-olds by inspiring them to achieve their dream.

The inaugural flight AI176 departed from San Francisco in the USA at 8.30 pm (local time) on January 9 and landed at the Kempegowda International Airport at 3.45 am (local time) on January 11. Besides, Capt Shivani Manhas, other pilots of all women cockpit crew were Captain Zoya Aggarwal, Captain Papagari Thanmai and Captain Akansha Sonaware. Captain Nivedita Bhasin, Executive Director (Flight Safety), Air India, was also travelling on this flight as a passenger.

Firms/companies > A > Air-India 21 January 2021 Air India’s first direct flight from San Francisco to Bengaluru AI-176, piloted by an all-women crew,  took off from San Francisco on Saturday at 8.30 pm (local time) and reached Bengaluru after 17 hours at 3.25 am on Monday, creating history. The flight with the all-women pilot team landed at Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru from San Francisco, flying over the North Pole and covering a distance of about 16,000 kilometers, in a 17-hour direct flight.  It was the longest commercial flight in the world to be operated by Air India or any other airline in India. It was also the first direct non-stop flight between the west coast of the United States and southern India.
