TIRUPATI: Asserting that the 22-month governance of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is the trump card for the Tirupati by-poll, YSRCP has picked the TDP gauntlet to treat the election as a referendum. Speaking to media here on Sunday, Minister for Panchayat Raj Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy accepted the challenge of Chandrababu’s referendum saying that YSRCP MPs will resign in case the Party loses in Tirupati and asked Naidu whether his Party MPs will quit otherwise.
Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy cancelled his April 14 Tirupati bypoll campaign, in wake of the spike in Covid-19 cases and instead the Chief Minister has sent letters to every household explaining the development and welfare programmes initiated by his government in the past 22 months. He urged the voters to cast their valuable vote for YSRCP and strengthen the government.

AMARAVATI: Andhra Pradesh Minister for Panchayat Raj Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy said that two deputy mayors and two vice-chairpersons would be appointed in Municipal Corporations and Municipalities across the State.
Speaking to the media here on Tuesday, he said that an Ordinance would be sent to the Governor in this regard of appointing two deputies instead of one, as it would be easier to provide better governance for the people.
As per the SEC schedule, Mayors, Vice-Chairpersons and Deputy-Mayors will be elected on March 18 and after getting Governor’s approval, another Deputy Mayor and Vice Chairperson will be selected in ULBs.

Tirupati: Minister for Panchayat Raj Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy has appealed to TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu to withdraw from Renigunta Airport and criticized him for trying to disturb law and order in the State only for sake of showing the existence of TDP through his friendly media.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, the minister said the TDP leader should have been aware that Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and Covid protocol are in place and creating a scene at the airport with malafide theatrics are only to divert the attention of people from TDP debacle in Panchayat polls.

AMARAVATI: The fourth and the concluding phase of the Gram panchayat elections concluded on Sunday, where more than 80 per cent polling was recorded on each of the four phases as per the State Election Commission release.
The polling was held to elect 2,743 village sarpanches and 22,423 ward members in 3,299 gram panchayats. As per reports 554 sarpanches were declared elected unopposed.
The panchayat elections were conducted on an apolitical basis and the ruling YSR Congress party supported candidates have won more than 82 per cent of the sarpanch and ward posts.
