Early April Rains Lead Some Good News in Drought Condtions

Washington, DC (KICD)– Dry conditions for farmers here in the KICD Broadcast area improved in this morning’s USDA Drought Monitor.
Most of O’Brien County and half of Clay county, as well as very small slivers of Osceola, Lyon, Sioux, Cherokee, and Palo Alto Counties have been in the D-3 “Extreme Drought” category all winter but were upgraded to a D-2 listing this week.
Last summer Northwest Iowa was the only area of Extreme Drought North and East of Texas, but in the past few months the Dakotas have been placed into that category.
Iowa Health Officials Report No COVID-19 Deaths for Third Consecutive Day

Des Moines, IA (KICD)– The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting 733 new cases of COVID-19 in the state as of 11 a.m. Wednesday taking the pandemic total to more than 387 thousand cases and 5,857 virus-related deaths, a number than has not changed in three days.
Locally, the largest 24-hour increase in cases is in Dickinson County with 14 followed by eight in Emmet County, five in Kossuth, four new cases in O’Brien County, three in Osceola and Pocahontas Counties, two each in Buena Vista, Clay, and Palo Alto Counties and no change in Cherokee County.

Des Moines, IA (KICD)– The Iowa Department of public health is reporting 603 new cases of COVID-19 in the state as of 11 a.m. Thursday taking the pandemic total to more 387, 505 cases and 5,870 virus-related deaths.
Locally, the largest 24-hour increase is in Osceola County with four new cases followed by three in O’Brien and Palo Alto Counties, two each in Clay, Dickinson and Kossuth Counties, one new case in Cherokee and Pocahontas Counties, no change in Emmet and a two case REDUCTION in Buena Vista County.

IA, (KICD) The Iowa Department of Public Health is reporting 455 new cases of COVID-19 in the state as of 11 A.M. Sunday, taking the pandemic total to 385,748 cases and 5,857 virus-related deaths.
Locally, the largest 24-hour increase was in Clay and Dickinson Counties with 5 new cases each, followed by Buena Vista and Palo Alto Counties with 3 each, Cherokee County reported 2 new cases, and Kossuth, O’Brien, and Osceola each reported 1 new case. There was no change in Pocahontas County, and there was a one case reduction in Emmet County.
Minnesota health officials added 1,776 new cases Sunday morning, taking the state to 542,053 cases and 6,946 deaths. The update includes 5 new cases in Nobles County and 11 new cases in Jackson County. There was one additional death reported in Nobles County.

Locally, the largest increase is in Dickinson County with 13 new cases followed by seven in Kossuth County, five new cases in Cherokee and O’Brien Counties, four in Osceola, three in Buena Vista and Palo Alto Counties, two in Pocahontas and no change in Clay and Emmet Counties.
