Angel Ortiz-Santos, 28, of 244 Pleasant St., was indicted for murder, possession of a firearm without a Firearms Identification Card (FID), and possession of ammunition without an FID, according to the office of District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr.
WORCESTER Shouts of basta! enough! rose from Chandler Street on Friday evening, as friends, family and community members gathered to remember Carlos Cruz, who was gunned down outside the Paku Lounge Restaurant last week.
Cruz, 44, had been at the restaurant and had allegedly retrieved a gun from his car as a confrontation between two groups appeared to be heating up outside, according to court testimony during the arraignment of Angel Ortiz-Santos, 28.
Ortiz-Santos was arraigned this week on charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon causing serious bodily injuries and possession of a firearm without a license, in connection with the May 8 slaying.
WORCESTER A father of four was shot and killed early Saturday morning on Chandler Street.
Around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the area of the Paku Lounge Restaurant at 215 Chandler St. for a “ShotSpotter” activation, according to police.
Police saw the victim on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. The officers rendered medical aid on the victim who was transported to the hospital by ambulance. The victim was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
Although the victim’s name is being withheld by police, the victim’s family confirmed that the deceased is Carlos Cruz, 44, of Worcester.
