Kalkhoff Of FSU Beach Volleyball Named Academic All-American

TALLAHASSEE, Fla, Florida State’s Paige Kalkhoff, the 2023 Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Beach Volleyball Scholar Athlete of the Year, has been named as a Third–Team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators.  Academically in 2023, Kalkhoff has earned CCSA Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, been named to the CCSA All-Academic Team and earned CSC At-Large All-District honors.  She has now earned Academic All-American honors for the first time in her career. TALLAHASSEE, Fla, Three members of the 2023 NCAA Semifinalist Florida State Beach Volleyball Team – Maddie Anderson, Paige Kalkhoff, and Anna Long – have been named to the Academic All-District team by the College Sports Communicators.  Anderson, Kalkhoff and Long led the Seminoles to a 32-9 record, the No. 4 seed in the NCAA Championship, and the No. 2 seed in the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Championships during the 2023 season.  “I’m so proud of these athletes, along with our entire team for the hard work, energy, and effort they all put into their academic success,” said Head Coach Brooke Niles.  “These three players specifically are leaders on the court and in the classroom. SEMINOLES FALL SHORT OF NCAA CHAMPIONSHIP

Gulf Shores, Ala. – The Florida State Seminoles won their quarter final match against LSU but came up short in the semi final against UCLA. The Bruins ended the Noles hope for another Championship appearance.   FSU 3, LSU 0 Makenna Wolfe and Alexis Durish got things going for the Seminoles on court five. The pair won in straight sets over the Tigers, 21-17 in the first and 21-14 I the second. Raelyn White and Morgan Chacon started off slow in the first set, losing 21-13. They duo gained momentum in set two and won 21-15 to force a third set. White and Chacon rode their momentum to a 15-7 win, giving the Noles their second dual point of the match. Maddie Anderson and Paige Kalkhoff also dropped the first set to the Tigers, 21-17. The duo entered the second set hot and won 21-12. NOLES ADVANCE TO THE QUARTER FINAL OF NCAA TOURNAMENT

Gulf Shores, Ala. – The Florida State Seminoles defeated Florida International 3-1 to advance to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament at Gulf Shores Public Beach in Gulf Shores, Ala. FSU will face LSU tomorrow, May 6, at 11:00 a.m. ET. If the Seminoles win the quarterfinal match, they will face the winner of Long Beach State and UCLA, also on Friday at 2:00 p.m. ET.
