Museum founder Courtney Skipper told The Oklahoman that the event has been postponed from its originally planned date on Tuesday due to the heightened security in place for Pres. TULSA After 100 years, the stories of brutality and destruction are almost unfathomable. A white mob s attack on Greenwood, home to about 10,000 people, left the community in ruins, reduced to a pile of smoldering bricks and debris. May 31-June 1, 1921, was a nightmare for Black Tulsans whose success and insistence on being treated fairly ended with a rumor triggering one of the worst race massacres in 20th-century America.

Interfaith baccalaureate for Edmond area students reflected inclusion

Oklahoman EDMOND  Students and leaders of different faith traditions came together for a recent worship service for high school seniors.  Several faith leaders coordinated an interfaith baccalaureate for Edmond area schools that included readings and music from the Christian, Jewish, Muslim and Baha i faith traditions. The event was May 16 at St. Luke s United Methodist Church-Edmond, 900 N Sooner Road. A baccalaureate is a worship service typically offered for a school s graduating class and their families and friends. The religious event is generally held a few days before high school commencement.   The Rev. Josh Attaway, campus pastor for St. Luke s- Edmond, said hosting the event was in line with St. Luke s mission to bring people together.

YouTubers charged over 911 call to Oklahoma City police

Oklahoman For years, YouTuber Floyd Wallace Jr. of Omaha, Nebraska, has been traveling across the Midwest recording run-ins with police. He and others like him describe themselves as First Amendment auditors or activists. Remember, I am fighting for your freedoms, Wallace says in one video. Now, he and two other YouTubers face a misdemeanor charge accusing them of falsely reporting a crime to instigate a confrontation with Oklahoma City police April 29. The 911 caller reported a guy was hiding in the bushes Ninja-style outside the Carver Correctional Center, according to a recording released by police. I don t know what he s doing. He might be trying to plant some dope on the facility, the caller said.
