Devotees throng Shiva temples | Ranchi News

RANCHI/JAMSHEDPUR: Ranchiites mostly chose to perform the rituals of the first Somvari of the ongoing Shravan month at their respective homes as most of the Shiva temples remained shut across the city given the pandemic but in Jamshedpur, there was a rush of devotees in the early morning hours. The Pahari Mandir in Ranchi, which usually sees thousands of devotees during Shravan, made arrangements for online puja, including special puja and rudrabhishek, for the devotees. The treasurer of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti, Abhishek Anand, said, “Those willing to offer puja need to pay Rs 101 for special puja and Rs 1,100 for rudrabhishek. The puja is also being telecast live on our website and YouTube from 5am to 8pm.”

Ranchi: The district administration is gearing up to ensure law and order during the Mahashivratri, scheduled on March 11, and held a meeting with the temple committee members of Ranchi Pahari Mandir to discuss the nuances. Around one lakh to 1.25 lakh devotees are expected to offer prayers at the temple. Shut since lockdown, edu institutes give Saraswati Puja a miss | Ranchi News

Ranchi: Saraswati Puja was held with traditional fervour in Ranchi on Tuesday with people offering prayers to the deity at home and pandals, albeit in a low-key manner, keeping in mind the ongoing pandemic. With coaching institutions remaining shut since the Covid-induced lockdown in March last year, many were seen giving the celebrations a miss this year. While Saraswati idols are generally not theme-based, the pandemic helped creative minds make wonders with several committees installing Covid-themed idols at the pandals. At Rajendra Institute of Medical Science (Rims), Saraswati came along with her entourage consisting Ganesh and Kartik where the latter was seen slaying a coronavirus-shaped demon. Rims director Dr Kameshwar Prasad performed the rituals in the presence of doctors and students. The day was also observed at Durga Bari with traditional fervour.
