400 APC members defect to PDP in Abia - Daily Post Nigeria

Daily Post Nigeria Published About 400 members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have dumped the party for the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ubakala, Umuahia South Local Government Area of the state. The defectors were led by the APC Vice Chairmanship candidate in the December 18th 2020 LG poll held across the state, including executive members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Speaking on behalf of the PDP decampees during the declaration ceremony in Umuahia South LGA, on Thursday, Comrade Ifeanyi Duke, expressed joy they joined the ruling PDP in the state. He explained that they were motivated to join PDP because of the massive infrastructural development executed by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration, as well as the excellent performance of the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Chris Ezem.

Nine Commissioners of Police (CPs) were promoted to the next rank of Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs); another nine were elevated from the rank of Deputy Commissioner to CPs. Three Chief Superintendents were moved to Assistant Commissioners of Police; 1,577 Deputy Superintendents to Superintendents of Police and 2,293 Assistant Superintendents to Deputy Superintendents of Police. PSC also elevated 7,283 Assistant Superintendents (ASP11) to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP1), 9,072 Inspectors to Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASP11) and 110 Inspectors promoted to Senior Inspectors.

Oyo civil servants begin indefinite strike over unpaid 6 months deductions by Makinde govt

Our correspondent learnt that the workers declared the indefinite strike over allegation of unpaid deductions by the Governor Seyi Makinde-led administration. DAILY POST reports that activities at some ministries and agencies at Oyo State Secretariat were paralysed by the protesting workers on Thursday. The ministries and agencies that were affected included; Women’s Affairs and Social Inclusion, Local Government Service Commission, Oyo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OYSAA), and Water Corporation of Oyo State. DAILY POST reports that workers of the Water Corporation under the aegis of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees (AUPCTRE), embarked on the strike following the failure of the state government to pay the six months deductions owed them Oyo State government.

Violence had erupted in Igangan, Ibarapa, on Friday when a popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Adeyemo, well known as Sunday Igboho, alongside his followers, stormed the Fulani settlement in the ancient town to eject Seriki Fulani, Salihu Abdukadir, and herdsmen accused of perpetrating crimes ranging from kidnappings, killings, rape to invasion of farmlands with their cattle.
