COVID-19: France delivers 28 tonnes of medical supplies to India
France on Sunday delivered to India 28 tonnes of ready-to-use medical supplies including eight large oxygen plants as part of the first phase of its solidarity mission to the country which has been grappling with record coronavirus cases. The French embassy said each of the eight plants can continuously supply oxygen to a 250-bed hospital round-the-clock for a dozen years and that they produce medical oxygen from ambient air. The oxygen plants will be delivered to 8 Indian hospitals, 6 in Delhi, one in Haryana and one in Telangana, based on needs as identified by the Indian authorities, the French embassy said in a statement on Saturday.

New Delhi [India], April 30 (ANI): The Centre on Friday decided to facilitate faster imports of key medical devices by relaxing the conditions for clearances under Legal Metrology (Packaging Rules 2011).
Considering the present pandemic situation of COVID-19 and for meeting the demand of medical devices, the Department of Consumer Affairs under the Government of India has permitted the importers of medical devices to import medical devices for three months from April 28 onwards, the government said in a statement.
The importers are subject to the condition that the importers shall make all declarations required under these rules immediately after import/custom clearance and before sale by way of stamping or putting sticker or online printing, as the case may be.

The announcement comes as India is witnessing a deadly
COVID-19 wave. The increasing cases have led to the storage of hospital beds and medical-grade oxygen in the country.

Since the US Military is an expeditionary force, it has a range of medical equipment to help it rapidly set up field hospitals for its troops. This includes the ability to establish hospitals with ICUs in forwarding areas without any external logistics.
