smoking scenes: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari calls for immediate curb on smoking scenes in OTT programmes

Indian MP Manoj Tiwari has called for action to stop smoking scenes in programmes on over-the-top (OTT) platforms. Speaking in Parliament during a discussion on the Cinematograph Amendment Bill, Tiwari said such scenes had become a trend on the digital platforms and actors, directors, scriptwriters and audiences no longer wanted them. The need for warnings and disclaimers on smoking on OTT platforms was laid down in amendments to the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2004, which came into effect on Monday.
