#OccupyLekki: Court strikes out charges against 40 arrested protesters

The Mobile Court sitting in Bolade, Oshodi, Lagos State, has struck out the charges against the 40 arrested protesters during the #OccupyLekkiTollGate protests on February 13, 2021.
The prosecutor informed the Court that the Attorney General of Lagos State has directed the withdrawal of the charges against the 40 protesters and the charges were accordingly struck out by the Court.

Barrister Adesina Ogunlana leading Ayo Ademiluyi (Secretary of Eti-Osa Bar Forum in personal capacity), Victoria Awobusuyi, and Tayo Odusanya, appearing as Defence Counsel for the 40 arrested protesters warmly appreciated the Court for striking out the charges.
The forum at a world press conference on Monday noted that both the AG and the state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, on Friday led a "show of force which is a show of shame" and acted the scripts of how they would repress the harmless #OccupyLekkiTollGate protesters.

The Center for Human and Socio-economic Rights CHSR, has on Saturday, condemned the arrests of some protesters who were arrested at Lekki Tollgate Plaza, the scheduled venue of the #OccupyLekki Protests.
Also, the human right body has called for the immediate and unconditional release of the protesters.
The protesters under the aegis of #OccupyLekki were arrested on Saturday by the Policemen deployed to the protest ground to maintain law and order.
A statement signed by its National President, Comrade Alex Omotehinse and General Secretary, Comrade Ewajane Osowo said about 10 #OccupyLekki protesters were arrested so far.

The Eti-Osa Bar Forum is set to sue the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry into Compensation and Restitution for Victims of SARS-related Abuses and Other Related Matters for granting Lekki Concession Company approval to resume business at the toll gate, where #EndSARS protesters were killed last October.
The panel s February 6, 2021 order granted to LCC an order of repossession and for insurance claims, repairs and renovations, and resumption of business.
