Despite warnings by the Federal Government, youths, yesterday, went ahead with the #OcuppyLekkiTollGate protest against the reopening of the Lekki Toll Gate.
Though the protest didn’t witness a massive turnout of participants, a handful of people protested after the initial arrest of an unspecified number of persons who had converged for the exercise.
As of 7:45 am yesterday, the men of the Nigeria Police, who were deployed to the scene a day earlier, were seen arresting some youths who had just arrived at the toll plaza.

The Center for Human and Socioeconomic Rights has condemned the arrest of 18 peaceful protesters by the police at the Lekki Tollgate today in Lagos State while calling for their immediate and unconditional release.
The CHSR, in a statement, on Saturday emphasised that Nigerians had the right to peaceful protest and should, therefore, not be harassed by state agents and officials.

The Center for Human and Socio-economic Rights CHSR, has on Saturday, condemned the arrests of some protesters who were arrested at Lekki Tollgate Plaza, the scheduled venue of the #OccupyLekki Protests.
Also, the human right body has called for the immediate and unconditional release of the protesters.
The protesters under the aegis of #OccupyLekki were arrested on Saturday by the Policemen deployed to the protest ground to maintain law and order.
A statement signed by its National President, Comrade Alex Omotehinse and General Secretary, Comrade Ewajane Osowo said about 10 #OccupyLekki protesters were arrested so far.
