Well be talking all things nfl later in the show. Good evening. Ben stokes is set to play for england again next month. The star all rounder found out earlier this week that he will be charged with affray after a brawl outside a night club last september. He was left out of the ashes as the Police Investigation took its course. Now that charges have been brought by the cps, the ecb have decided that he can play for england and is set to feature in new zealand injust over five weeks time. Lets speak to our sports correspondentjoe wilson, who is at lords. The former england captain Michael Atherton says the ecbs decision is illogical if stokes gets a date for a Court Appearance, yes, andi yes, and i cant take that point because you might say what has changed . Because you might say what has changed 7 there are because you might say what has changed . There are still criminal proceedings ongoing, still a presumption of innocence before guilt, a key part of our legal system. The ecb would
Becomes, in the next few hours. Showers easing, some coming in and the wind becoming lighter and many areas seeing the afternoon sunshine. Despite that, with the wind, it still feels cold. This is the calm before the storm, i am afraid. A deep area of low pressure across the British Isles later this evening and overnight. Bringing widespread gales. But also perhaps more concerning greek, further snow. Rain, sleet and snow for Northern Ireland into the small hours and a focus for southern scotland and Northern England once again. Getting bagelled is not something that happens to Ashleigh Barty very often, but the world No 1 was not too concerned about losing a set 6-0 against Aryna Sabalenka in the Madrid Open final.
It was the first time in four years that Barty failed to get on the scoreboard in a set as world No 7 Sabalenka overpowered her in the opener at Caja Mágica.
Barty went into the Madrid showpiece match on Saturday having not been bagelled in four years while over the course of her career she only lost a set 6-0 on eight occasions.
Simply stunning.
