Odisha has kept 17 NDRF, 20 ODRAF and 175 fire fighting teams on standby over the possible formation of a low-pressure area over the South Andaman Sea and areas adjoining the southeast Bay of Bengal, said Odisha Special Relief Commissioner.
"The low-pressure area will move northwest and intensify into a depression in the next 48 hours. However, some time is required for analysing the data before providing details on the possible path of the system," the weather office said.
The system is very likely to intensify into a depression in the next 48 hours and move in the north-westward direction, Umashankar Das, Senior Scientist, IMD told ANI.
The IMD said that the low pressure area brewing over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining area will intensify into a depression and take the shape of a cyclonic storm around December 3. The system will reach north Andhra Pradesh-Odisha coast around December 4.
