While investigators continue to piece together what went wrong the nbc bay area Investigative Unit reviewed state records detailing the history of that section of roadway. Reporter the fatal crash involving fed ex and Tour Bus Company occurred roughly 150 miles north of San Francisco along i5. There have been just nine accidents along that stretch of roadway since 2008, the majority happened within a mile of where this recent crash occurred. The Investigative Unit learned head on collision along that road is very rare. The only other accident caused by a driver losing control and heading into on coming traffic happened more than ten miles away back in 2008.
