Helicopter winches woman to safety after mishap at waterfall

Emergency services and Westpac Rescue Helicopter attended the incident after reports a woman, 43, had rolled her ankle near the Minyon Falls Lookout, north of Repentance Creek around 12.30pm on Friday February 12, 2021. Due to the rough nature of the terrain, the woman was treated by a critical care team paramedic before being winched into the helicopter. She was then flown to Lismore Base Hospital where she is understood to be in a stable condition.

Elderly man flown from rural property by rescue helicopter

Premium Content Subscriber only An 87-year-old man is at Lismore Base Hospital after paramedics from Ambulance New South Wales and Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter gave him urgent medical treatment. It is understood a road ambulance was called around 7.30am on Monday, to an address in Oak St, Bonalbo. According to Ambulance NSW, the man, 87, was suffering from a medical condition, Around 8:40am this morning the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was tasked by New South Wales Ambulance to the incident. The patient was treated on scene by NSWA paramedics and the Helicopter Critical Care Medical team. The man, 87, was then flown to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition for further treatment.

Emergency services were called to Upper Tooloom Creek, in the Tooloom National Park near Urbenville, after reports a kayaker had capsized about 12.10pm on January 9. Police were informed the 68-year-old was kayaking with friends downstream when her kayak hit a log and she fell into fast flowing water before getting snagged on another log. Despite efforts to rescue her, she died at the scene. While rescue crews attended the incident on Saturday, the woman s body could not be recovered because of unsafe conditions.
