An extra 32 people will now have a bed in an aged care facility in Kyogle with the completion of extensions, funded by the Federal Government.
Page MP Kevin Hogan has officially opened the $12 million extension of Kyogle’s Whiddon Group Aged Care Facility extension. A new wing has opened at Whiddon Aged Care Facility in Kyogle.
“With this extension, over 60 of our locals will be able to stay in the area, closer to their home and their families,” Mr Hogan said.
“This upgrade has included the construction of a new wing with an extra 32 new aged care places – this exceeds the 23 places originally planned when we announced funding.”
One new overseas-acquired case of COVID-19 was recorded in the same period, bringing the total number of cases in NSW since the beginning of the pandemic to 5111. QLD has also recorded only one new case of the COVID-19 virus overnight, acquired overseas and detected in hotel quarantine. NSW Health said 85,175 tests had been conducted this week in NSW, with 6249 in the past 24 hours. Traces of COVID-19 were reported after sewage surveillance detection at Lennox Head on April 1, but there wee no traces detected on April 3. The Courier Mail reported while there are now 72 active cases in Queensland, health authorities are confident they have the southeast s two clusters under control.

Subscriber only In the past four weeks, more than 19,000 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in Northern NSW, and only one positive result has been detected. Of those tests, more than 10,000 tests were conducted in the region in the past week. NNSWLHD Chief Executive Wayne Jones said: The Northern NSW community has really got behind our call to get tested . . Over the past week there has been a significant increase in testing, and I want to thank the residents and visitors who have come forward. High rates of testing help us to detect any cases in the community as early as possible.
A further case of COVID-19 directly linked to the Byron Bay henâs party cluster has been reported in Queensland.
Queensland chief health officer Dr Jeannette Young said of the stateâs 10 new cases recorded on Tuesday, one was community-acquired.
The remainder are returned travellers in hotel quarantine.
She said the new community transmission was another attendee of the henâs party, which involved 10 people plus an entertainer who travelled to Byron Bay from Queensland between last Friday and Sunday.
âThat was the perfect case if I could describe it as that,â Dr Young said.
âThis was one of those participants in that party that happened at Byron Bay.â
