(Susan Hiland/Daily Republic) Police collect unused pills on National Prescription Drug Take Back Day FAIRFIELD Pills of all sizes and shapes came in plastic or paper bags Saturday for the 20th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. People in their vehicles arrived over the course of a short four hours in their respective towns to drop off the unwanted or expired prescription or over-the-counter medication. Personnel from the Fairfield Police Department, Rio Vista Police Department and Dixon Police Department collected the bags and handed them to volunteers.

Officials ID Vallejo man killed in crash at Highway 12, Beck Avenue FAIRFIELD A Vallejo man was killed and five others injured when a pickup truck slammed into the back of a Chevrolet Camaro, causing a six-vehicle pileup Thursday evening on Highway 12 at Beck Avenue, the California Highway Patrol reported. Diego Morales, 24, the driver of the Camaro, was identified as the individual who died in the crash, the Solano County Sheriff-Coroner’s Office reported Friday. He was the only person in the Camaro. The CHP reported that a Dodge 2500 pickup, driven by Michael Solis, 35, of Vallejo, failed to stop while traveling west on Highway 12 and coming up on traffic at Beck Avenue.
