Four Tigers in Top 100 of Latest PGA University Rankings

CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson is the only golf program in the nation with four players ranked in the top 100 of the PGA University Rankings Presented by Velocity Global. The latest rankings were released on the PGA Tour website on Wednesday.Seniors Jacob Bridgeman, Kyle Cottam, Colby Patton and Zack Gordon are all ranked in the top 80 in the nation according to the latest rankings that take into account college, amateur and professional tournaments collegians have played over the  last year.Bridgeman is ranked 14th overall. The native of Inman, S.C. has a 69.67 stroke average this year, 35th best in the nation.  His 62 in the second round of the Maui Jim Intercollegiate on September 11th tied for the best round in the nation this year. His 70.74 career stroke average is second in Clemson history behind Doc Redman’s 70.70.Cottam is ranked 36th in the latest PGA University ranking. Gordon Reaches Final Four of North-South Amateur CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson rising senior Zack Gordon reached the final four of the North-South Amateur at Pinehurst #2  in Pinehurst, N.C. on Saturday morning with a victory over Joe Highsmith from NCAA Champion Pepperdine, then dropped a semifinal match in the afternoon to Australia Amateur Champion Louis Dobbelaar. The two matches concluded quite a week for Gordon, who jumped on the national college golf scene in April when he made a 20-foot putt in his match against Florida State to give the Tigers the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. Reaching the Final Four of the North-South Amateur will only enhance his resume.

Gordon Reaches Quarterfinals of North-South Amateur CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson rising senior Zack Gordon defeated Ben Carr of  Georgia Southern 2&1 to advance to the quarterfinals of the North-South Amateur at Pinehurst #2 in Pinehurst, NC  in an 11-hour match on Friday. Gordon will face Joe Highsmith, an All-American for National Champion Pepperdine, on Saturday morning. All eight Sweet 16 matches were halted significantly by two rain delays. Gordon and Carr, started at 7:48 a.m. before the golfers were taken off the court due to inclement weather after just two holes. The golfers tied the first two holes. They returned to the course at 2 p.m. and again got just two holes in before storms took them off the course a second time. Carr had just won the fourth hole to take a 1-up lead.

Gordon Moves into Sweet 16 of North-South Amateur CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson golfer Zack Gordon defeated Vanderbilt’s  William Moll in 19 holes on Thursday to move into the final 16 of the North-South Amateur at Pinehurst #2 in Pinehurst, N.C. Gordon will now face Sun Belt Conference Champion Ben Carr of Georgia Southern on Friday morning. Gordon, who gained fame in April by making the 20-foot deciding putt in a 21-hole match against Florida State’s Grayson Porter to give Clemson the ACC Championship, reached the match play portion of the North-South Amateur by finishing third in stroke play. The rising senior shot a 65 on Pinehurst #2 on Tuesday, and 70 on Pinehurst #4 on Wednesday. His 135 total trailed only Christian Banke (132) and Karl Vilips (133).
