Clemson Travels to Golf Club of Georgia

CLEMSON, S.C. Clemson will  return to the course for the first time in 16 days when Jordan Byrd’s Tigers take part in the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, GA.  The tournament will run with 18 holes played each day from Friday, October 21 through Sunday October 23. Clemson will be one of 14 teams competing for the championship on the par 72 course that measures 7,092 yards.The national field includes seven top 25 teams, with six from the top 13 in the nation by both Golfstat and Golfweek. The field includes a Stanford team ranked fifth by Golfstat, and sixth ranked Texas A&M. Virginia is ranked seventh by Golfstat and Tennessee is ranked seventh by Golfweek. Alabama is 12th in both polls, while Georgia Tech is 13th in both.  Defending National Champion Pepperdine, ranked 19th by Golfweek, will also compete. CLEMSON, S.C. Colby Patton shot a two-under-par 69 on Tuesday and Jacob Bridgeman finished third overall with an 11-under-par score for the 54 holes, leading Clemson to a 10th place finish at the 15-team Valspar Collegiate at The Floridian in Palm City, Fla.Defending National Champion Pepperdine won the tournament in dominating fashion with a team score of 34-under-par 818 for two-day event that included eight teams with a top 25 ranking by at least one service, including four top 10 teams.    Pepperdine, who entered the tournament ranked 10th in the nation, finished 14 shots ahead of Florida State to gain the team victory.Dylan Menante of Pepperdine won medalist honors with a score of 14-under-par 199, three shots better than Bridgeman.   With the win, Menante will receive an invitational to the Valspar Invitational on the PGA Tour next March.Bridgeman was tied with Ludvig Aberg of Texas Tech, one of the top players in the nation, who will play as an amateur in this weekend’s

CLEMSON, S.C. Zack Gordon shot a four-under-par 68 on Friday to lead Clemson at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate in Alpharetta, Ga. Clemson shot a team score of one-over par 289 leading to a 10th place ranking out of 15 teams after the first round. The tournament continues with 18 holes on Saturday and Sunday at the Golf Club of Georgia’s Lakeside Course.Defending National Champion Pepperdine and Texas A&M are tied for the lead at 13-under-par. The field includes eight top 20 teams and there are 20 top 100 players competing.Clemson had 20 birdies to rank second in the field, but the Tigers had four double-bogeys.Gordon had seven birdies on the day, tied for the second most in the field of 75 players from around the nation.Gordon had five birdies on the front nine, including the seventh, eighth and ninth holes. CLEMSON, S.C. – Jacob Bridgeman had an opening round 70 and finished the 36-hole first day with a 145 total in leading Clemson at the Colonial Collegiate at famed Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas. Clemson stands in 15th place in the 15-team tournament that includes seven of the top 10 teams in the nation and 10 of the top 20.The Colonial Collegiate is the top fall tournament in college golf, and is being played at the same Colonial Country Club that has been the site of a PGA event every year since 1946, the longest active streak of hosting a PGA Tour event.The par 70 course that is 7,204 yards in length, certainly challenged the field of top college golfers. No team is under par through 36 holes and just seven of the 75 individuals are under par. Only five players broke par in the second round when the average score was 73.85.Clemson has a 594 team total through 36 holes, 34-over-par after team rounds of 296 and 298.
