Firefighters responded to a massive 9-alarm fire in Salisbury, Massachusetts that started in the early morning of Monday that engulfed a motel and various nearby buildings. The situation was made worse by powerful winds and heavy rain.

Hampton man dies from injuries sustained in head-on crash Portsmouth Herald Police announced Tuesday that 67-year-old Frank Shedd died March 2 at 3:02 p.m.  Police said the crash occurred at 12:22 p.m., Monday, Feb. 22 on Atlantic Avenue, on the rail-trail overpass, just east of 233 Atlantic Avenue.   A preliminary investigation revealed that Shedd was driving a 2006 Toyota Camry when he crossed the center lane and struck a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by Mercedes McCoy, 22, also of Hampton.  Shedd was transported by North Hampton Fire and Rescue to Portsmouth Regional Hospital with serious injuries. McCoy was transported to the Portsmouth Regional Hospital Emergency Room in Seabrook by Hampton Fire and Rescue, where she was treated and released.

The plane came to rest, upside-down in the snow-covered median between the taxiway and the runway. The pilot and passenger had been seat belted and were able to exit the plane without assistance, North Hampton Police wrote in a statement. They were evaluated and treated on scene by North Hampton Fire & Rescue personnel for minor injuries.
