This morning, we have new aerial video to show you of this firefight. This is burning in a remote part of the merit island preserve on the southwestern tip of the preserve. It is not threatening any buildings or homes on merit island. It is an air are i cant that is step with heavy brush and veg taig, its been difficult to access some of the fire. It has burned 7 acres since 3 00 this morning. The fire is a percent contained according to firefighters so its not spreading out of control, just accessing it has been difficult. They do have hydrant service on merit island, the challenge for firefighters have running fire hoses to get access to the flames, firefighters tell us this fire was started by someone who intentionally cut power poles causing lines to come down and spark the fire. Can you clearly see someone tried to saw into the sides of the power pole there and caused the line to droop, the fire investigator believes someone who did this may have been trying to steal copper wiring
