Small Plane Crashes At Hampton Airfield, 2 Suffer Minor Injuries

North Hampton Police Department Two men suffered minor injuries when their small airplane overturned on landing at Hampton Airfield this morning. The 70-year pilot and his 68-year-old passenger took off from Skylark Airport in Connecticut, according to North Hampton rescue officials. They flew in what’s known as a kit-plane – an amateur-built aircraft with one engine and two seats. Responders say the plane crashed in Hampton and was found flipped over in the snowy median beside the runway. They say both passengers wore seatbelts and could get out of the plane on their own. The airfield is now closed pending a formal government investigation.

Two Men Free Themselves After Plane Crashes, Overturns at Hampton

Two men were able to free themselves Wednesday morning from an overturned plane at Hampton Airfield, authorities said. “The pilot and passenger had been seat belted and were able to exit the plane without assistance,” police Chief Kathryn Mone and fire Chief Lajoie said in a joint statement. When first responders arrived at the airfield they found a Vans RV-6, a two-seat, single-engine plane, overturned in the snowy median between the runway and the taxiway. Pilot Robert Turcotte, 70, of Broad Brook, Connecticut, and his passenger, William Kulle, 68, of Springfield, Massachusetts, were treated for minor injuries on the airfield by EMTs, according to Mone and LaJoie.
