A few weeks ago, Feed Our Rural Kids embarked on an effort to raise a million dollars for an endowment fund to ensure local children have enough to eat today and into the future.
The fundraising effort is off to a strong start, with a local couple promising to match the first $50,000 raised.
Margaret Baack and Mike McAdams are all about food.
“It’s such an important aspect in everyone’s life,” Baack said.
A trained French Chef, McAdams owned a restaurant, and the couple established a grocery store in Land O’ Lakes.

4-H teaches kids and teens a wide-range of skills to help expand their interests and get involved in their community.
Program Coordinator Anne Williams says adults are a huge part of that.
“You may not think spending on hour of your time once a week or once a month or just a few times of year makes a difference, but it does. Our adult volunteers can have children and teens learn knew things, building confidence, and become leaders,” said Williams.
