NOIDA: The Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) is looking at a technological solution for its labour problem. It is planning to launch a job portal to fill up vacancies in its factories as the departure of hundreds of workers as well as the loss of many to Covid has reduced the workforce to nearly 50%.
SEZ members claim that a low count of workers has badly affected the workflow, leading to a weeks of lag in deliveries of orders.
While they are not sure if the migrant workers would return in time, it’s expected that the job portal will help announce vacancies and recruit replacements. The jobs which have the most openings are for fitters, assembly operators, technicians and store keepers.

Noida: The workforce at Noida Special Economic Zone (NSEZ) has shrunk to 5,000 from the original strength of 50,000. The city’s entrepreneurs claim that most migrant workers have left for their villages even when factories are not shut down officially. A disrupted supply chain combined with a low workforce has led to a disruption in the production cycle at the MSMEs.
Ajay Goel, president of Noida Special Economic Zone Welfare Association (NSEZWA), told TOI that even though factories have been allowed to operate amid the second wave of Covid-19, many migrant labourers have left for their home towns.
“The headcount in factories has been on a steady decline over the past few weeks. This week, we just have around 5,000 people reporting to work and even though they are coming to the factories, the workflow itself has been affected because the supply chain of raw materials stands disrupted. Most MSME owners don’t have enough raw materials to keep the production in progress,”
Noida: The city is all set to open doors to its largest co-working space a five-lakh sqft 10,000-seater facility at Sector 132 in what could be seen as one of the biggest such ventures planned in the post-lockdown period.
The facility is being set up by Incuspaze, which rented a space at Urbtech Trade Centre near Noida-Greater Noida Expressway in Sector 132.
Talking to TOI, Sanjay Chatrath, managing partner of Incuspaze, said “Things have changed a lot after the Covid-induced lockdown. It has changed the way people work. Several companies have conducted employee mapping and found out where most of their employees live. They have diversified their offices by branching out with the help of co-working spaces. Many of our clients just want us to customise their sections they had set up on their office floors. These firms want to provide employees flexibility and easy access to work areas. So, instead of employees having to travel so far to reach their work areas, offices are co
