Noida/Ghaziabad: A fresh stock of 80,000 Covishield doses reached Noida on Saturday evening, a day before the government’s “tika utsav” or vaccination camp begins on Sunday. Around 20,000 doses of the vaccine would be given to Ghaziabad, which is expected to get its own stock of 80,000 doses on Sunday morning. With only a few thousand doses left, it was touch-and-go whether the health departments of Noida and Ghaziabad would be able to carry out vaccinations for long. “We will give 20,000 doses to Ghaziabad as loan so that inoculations aren’t hampered there on Sunday,” said Neeraj Tyagi, the district immunisation officer in Noida.

NMRC pins hope on fourth round for Greno route bids | Noida News

Noida: Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) on Monday confirmed that a fourth round of bidding for its Noida-Greater Noida corridor of the Aqua Line is under way. NMRC, officials said, cancelled the third round of civil tendering process in February this year because of lack of “wider participation” from construction companies. This line will connect Noida’s Sector 51 station with Greater Noida’s Knowledge V station. “We were forced to cancel the previous tendering process due to low participation. After scrapping the bidding process, we held a video conference with the construction companies keen on the project but would like to have certain modifications. We will soon float the tender again, with modifications,” Manoj Vajpayee, general manager (technical) NMRC, said.

Noida: In the first among some 55 cases lodged against him, gangster Sunder Bhati has been sentenced to life imprisonment, along with 11 of his accomplices, for the murder of SP leader Harendra Nagar and his gunner Bhudev Sharma in 2015. Dadupur village pradhan Harendra and his gunner were shot dead by Bhati and his men when they had gone to attend a wedding function in Niana village of Greater Noida on February 8, 2015. Apart from handing down the punishment to the 12 convicts on Monday, the court of additional sessions judge (fast track-1) Anil Kumar Singh also imposed a total fine of Rs 20.70 lakh on them and ordered that half of the amount be given to the family of the deceased gunner.

Ghaziabad: The vice-chairperson of Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) on Monday convened a meeting of seven builders from Crossings Republik, the state’s first township under Integrated Township Scheme that came up in 2007, and asked them to submit a report detailing work done by them within a week. These developers have failed to provide basic facilities even after the compulsory ten-year period. GDA VC Krishna Karunesh has now given them a week’s time to come up with a report detailing the work carried out by them. “State’s principal secretary (housing) will take a stock of projects under the integrated township policy and before that we have asked the erring builders to come up with a report within a week. We will recommend action against them based on that,” Karunesh said.
