10 00 last night. Alameda county Sheriffs Office says it originally came in as a medical call. Firefighters and paramedics arrived to this home and when they got her, they said here. They said the suspect was combative and hostile can they called Alameda County sheriffs for help. As the paramedics wither trying were trying to transport the suspect. He broke free and ran back into the home. They went inside the home and thats when the man came out swinging with a baseball bat. He violently attacks the sergeant hitting him with the baseball bat and attempting to hit him again and thats when shots were fired. Reporter now a sergeant and a deputy shot at the suspect killing him. Neighbors in the area reported hearing six to eight shots. Now back out live at the home, we know that the suspect lived here with his wife who is currently being interviewed by investigators. Into the bay. A house fire in Contra Costa County ends in tragedy. One person died after being trapped inside the burning home. It happened here on Mountain View avenue in bay pointe this morning. Im tori campbell. John sasaki is at the scene of the fire and joins us live. Reporter take a look amount the outside. You cant tell anything that happened here on Mountain View avenue. 00 d. C. County got the call there was a fire and firefighters got it under control within 20 minutes of receiving the 911 call. Not a big fire. From the outside, you cant tell it happened. But investigators say it was a smoldering fire that likely burned for some time. The home had no smoke detectors. So the man was in the back bedroom and got no warning of danger. Firefighters say they didnt see any burns on this individual. They believe maybe he was just overcome by the smoke. Reporter exactly right, michelle. I can show you the firefighters from th Sunnyvale Department of publi safety, which is still burning. It was reported at 9 25 a. M. It was a massive fire. You can see from aerials and shots from the ground that two house were burning on lantana drive in sunnyvale. It became a threealarm blaze. It threatened to burn down a third home prompting one homeowner to jump on his roof with a garden hose to try and push back the advancing flames. The Fire Department does not advise doing anything like this but heres what the homeowner had to say. It was sustained, the heat coming off the neighbors house. Could you feel it.
