Woman indicted in shooting that hit girl in bed | News, Sports, Jobs

YOUNGSTOWN A Warren woman has been indicted, accused of driving the vehicle in a drive-by shooting on East Avondale Avenue March 31 that struck a 13-year-old girl in the leg while in bed. Jana M. Cox, 25, of York Avenue, was indicted Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises, improperly discharging a firearm into a habitation or a school safety zone, felonious assault and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. Some of the charges also carry gun specifications that could add extra time to her sentence if she is convicted. The victim in the 2 a.m. shooting is expected to recover, Youngstown police Chief Carl Davis has said.

COLUMBIANA COUNTY JUVENILE A 16-year-old boy was cited in juvenile court for allegedly violating the terms of his probation on Jan. 14 by choking his mother and striking her multiple times. A 13-year-old girl was cited after allegedly striking an employee of the Tobin Attention Center multiple times while she was housed at the facility on Feb. 11. A 16-year-old Wellsville girl was cited after leaving home Feb. 28 and failing to return home or let her parents or guardians know where she was. A 16-year-old Perry Township girl was cited for allegedly striking her mother and for screaming at and shoving another family member on Feb. 22.

Feb 19, 2021 LISBON In county Municipal Court, Matthew P. Soldo, 40, Grant Street, Salem, was bound over to the grand jury for an obstructing official business charge for allegedly telling Perry Township police Amanda Hines was not in the home, refused to come back to the door and was found hiding with Hines in a bedroom next to the door on Feb. 11. Diego B. Gonzalez, 32, Youngstown, was bound over to the grand jury on a receiving stolen property charge for allegedly driving a stolen black 2020 Ford Fusion with North Carolina registration on Feb. 9. Gonzalez was credited with seven days served, sentenced to an additional eight days in jail and fined $600 for driving under suspension, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
