Magnitude 5.8 earthquake jolts Nicaragua
No fatalities reported so far amid northwestern tremor felt strongly in cities of Chinandega, Leon, Managua

A 5.8-magnitude earthquake occurred off the northwestern coast of Nicaragua late on Friday.
The epicenter of the earthquake was off the northwestern Jiquilillo coast at a depth of 51 kilometers (31 miles), according to the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INETER).
There were no casualties reported in the earthquake, but it was felt strongly in the cities of Chinandega, Leon, and Managua.
A total of 12 people died in a 5.9 magnitude earthquake that took place in Nicaragua in 2000.

An earthquake of magnitude 4.5 occurred early morning on Friday 5 February 2021 at 6:29 am local time near Leon, Departamento de Leon, Nicaragua, as reported by the Nicaraguan Institute of Territorial Studies (INETER).
According to preliminary data, the quake was located at an intermediate depth of 131 km. The strength of the earthquake may have been tempered by its relative great depth below the surface, which makes it feel weaker in absolute terms. 5.0 quake 41 km north of Kindia, Guinea, 3 Feb 2021 9:55 am (GMT +0)
An earthquake of magnitude 5.0 occurred 32 minutes ago 41 km northwest of Kindia, Guinea, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The quake hit at a shallow depth of 14.4 km beneath the epicenter near Kindia, Guinea, in the morning on Wednesday 3 February 2021 at 9:55 am local time. Magnitude and other quake parameters can still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
Our monitoring service identified a second report from the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) which listed the quake at magnitude 5.0 as well.
Based on the preliminary seismic data, the quake should not have caused any significant damage, but was probably felt by many people as light vibration in the area of the epicenter.
