The Supreme Court stayed an order of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that directed the State of Maharashtra to pay ₹12,000 crore as environmental compensation for improper waste management.
The case was initiated based on an article published in One India stating that a study by EMPRI found contamination levels exceeding permissible limits set by the FAO.
The Delhi Pollution Control Committee has suggested accepting the results of reports by IITs in Bombay and Delhi and using the already erected towers as museums to share technical information about air pollution control.
The NGT at Bhopal recently called for strict compliance with the directions of the Supreme Court as well as the principal bench of the tribunal with respect to the regulation and restrictions on the use of firecrackers.
