NEW WAVERLY â A vehicle crash between an 18-wheeler and a compact car left one of the drivers trapped underneath the big rig, according to responding emergency crews.
It happened at about 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Following the crash, all northbound lanes on Interstate 45 between Huntsville in New Waverly were closed.
The first New Waverly Fire Department crews reported that a driver of a Honda Civic was trapped underneath the 18-wheeler. Witnesses reported seeing the car leave the roadway, then veer sharply back across the main lanes and under a passing 18 Wheeler. The vehicle lodged under the trailer and was dragged for several hundred yards as the driver of the truck brought it to a stop.

NEW WAVERLY – Parts of New Waverly in Walker County had to deal with flooding on Friday.
The New Waverly Fire Department says they had to rescue several residents because of the weather.
KPRC 2 spoke to one family who had to be evacuated from their home on Timber Creek Road. The family says they never had any flooding issues until now.
The family shared video with KPRC 2 that shows several wood boards covering up a drainage ditch down the street from their home. The video shows an excavator moving the pallets and several feet of water flowing through the ditch.
A property dispute turned violent over the weekend, resulting in two individuals being shot.
Deputies with the Walker County Sheriffâs Office responded on Sunday to the 100 block of Hawthorne Road in New Waverly, where they were told that a person had been shot. Upon arrival, deputyâs learned that two individuals had gunshot wounds.
Police say that both injured individuals were immediately transported to an area hospital for treatment, with one victim transported by ambulance to Conroe Regional Hospital and the other was taken by Air Ambulance to Houston Hospital. The injuries are not expected to be life threatening, with one person already being released from the hospital.
