Credit Union donates €250 to Blood Bikes

New Ross Rewards first group winner is Blood Bikes South East. On Friday (15th), €250 was presented by the first of the local banks participating in the Rewards: New Ross Credit Union. Spokesperson for New Ross Credit Union Stella Kehoe said the credit union is all about people, local people and the community. Ms Kehoe said: There has never been a greater time, when as a community we need to come together and be there for each other throughout this Covid-19 crisis. New Year babies are New Ross Rewards winners

The district s new year babies, two beautiful boys born to mothers Donna Walsh of New Ross and Lauren Kent of Campile, received more joyous news this week after receiving a bonanza of prizes from businesses involved in the New Ross Rewards community initiative. More than 30 local businesses contributed to two beautiful gift packs, valued at €1,500 in total, which will be delivered over the coming days. Baby Levi Jason Walsh and Baby Jack Kent were nominated on the New Ross Rewards Facebook page by their proud nannies, Linda Cahill and Andre Kent Merritt, after a call was put out to find the first babies born in 2021 from district.

Kind Aoife (7) is a New Ross Rewards winner

New Ross Rewards presented its second weekly presentation on Friday by recognising the fundraising efforts of local child Aoife Mehigan from Ballyfarnogue, Campile. At just seven years old, Aoife was inspired to fundraise for children less fortunate than others after watching this year s memorable Late Late Toy Show. Nominated by her proud mother Vanessa, Aoife was 36km into her walking target of 50km over the month of December (as of Friday) and has raised well over €1,000 to date for the local SVP and Aoibheann s Pick Tie. She accepted her New Ross Rewards Cert and €100 from sponsor Willie Fitzharris of Fitzharris Construction and David Looby of the People Newspapers, media partners to the community initiative.

A community rewards initiative which will see over 70 local businesses - together with the area s schools and clubs - celebrate the many wonderful everyday deeds done and achievements won by local people, has been launched. Supported by An Garda Síochána, the New Ross Rewards initiative was formally launched by Superintendent John McDonald on the banks of the River Barrow over the weekend. The idea of local businessman Billy Ryan, who has coordinated the project to date; sees businesspeople and service providers utilise the rewards process to highlight achievements.
